How?

'(...) How can you not forgive? How can you cling to your pain and let it become your universe? How can you not see beyond the hurt and suffering that you were subjected to and realize that there was, indeed, something there? How can you get so self centered and not realize that in forgiving, there is Love? How can you just give up and ignore the history - 'cause trust me, there is some history there - and not pick up the pieces? I get it. I do, really. You need to start fresh somewhere new. But how can you get so jaded that something new and shiny trumps the reliable that was by your side through thick and thin? How can you delude yourself into thinking that you will be as happy as you were before? How can you sever the last string that bound us together? How can you just give up?
